The PC gaming E3 started off pretty cool, it kicked off with an interview from the CEO of Tripwire who created Killing Floor which I am familiar with, it looks like a great game but I haven't had the time to play it which is unfortunate.
Then they showcased I think was an exclusive I'm not sure but it was a fun war game called Rising Storm 2, it seemed to have been based on the Vietnam war but the main draw for me was how neat the graphics were, they didn't look too shabby, there were close flying low helicopters, the lot, it looked epic.
Then for a huge amount of time there was a talk about AMD Radion graphics cards, pricing, shipping options, a whole load of fun stuff, especially shipping.
After a bunch of stuff I didn't care for, Phil Spencer came on stage, yes Phil Spencer the head of Xbox on a PC gamer show, I suppose he's connected in some way because of Windows 10 and the Xbox App on Windows 10, but I'm interested at this point, he started talking about his plans for PC gaming and he spoke about windows 10 and how one version of Windows across all platforms makes it easier for development, they are really trying to integrate Xbox into PC and allow the two to be interconnected and cross platform play yay! Playing with 5 year olds never got better, I'm being sarcastic of course and don't take that statement out of context so help you God.
Then they shown gears of war the ultimate edition or some rubbish, now I once played gears of war on the Xbox 360 and that was the last I played of it, that one time, then that was it, now interestingly its a PC and Xbox exclusive, yay! I'm not playing it.
Then the next big announcement was the American Truck Simulator by SCS software, the guys who made Euro Truck Simulator, I love the Euro Truck Simulator minus the performance issues on my PC, its a fun game in your spare time and I find the simulation to be the best I've experienced, SL I know that the American Truck Simulator will be as good if not better, its now listed on Steam as TBA but still its going to be good.
Now ages into the conference we had a trailer for Planet Rollercoaster, this is a game from the guys who made Rollercoaster Tycoon which I haven't played but I really really want to, its so good and I'm in to those building type games, I played a Rollercoaster park building game on the PS2, I think it was called Theme Wolrd, that was awesome, I played Rollercoaster World by Zynga Games on Facebook back when it was around and I have played numerous Rollercoaster building games on my phone, these types of games are so fun and this one looks even better than Rollercoaster Tycoon, the graphics are amazing, let's hope the gameplay meets expectations.
Then beyond eyes was shown again but for PC, if you've watched my Xbox E3 roundup, you'll know my positive opinions on this game, check out that video here
Spoiler alert I will be talking about the winner so if you wish to watch it, watch it herebefore proceeding down the blog post.
So I'm not a huge Nintendo fan, I have a DS that I don't use with a final fantasy card, but my favourite Nintendo game was Mario on the NES, that game is amazing.
I joined late to the Nintendo World Championships however I did get to see the last four contestants battle head to head and it seemed like there was lots of cool games per round, the game that was played to determine the last two players was Super Smash Brothers which seemed pretty challenging.
The winners of that round was Cosmo and John Numbers.
Now the Mario Maker game was very unexpected, at first it seemed like an original Mario game, until there was the addition of fire rows and really hard looking bosses
The announcers were a little boring but they did chime in some relevant commentary here and there, they explained that the bosses are individual monsters put together, and as the rounds went on the game got harder, initially Cosmo and John Numbers took it in turns to play a round for 15 seconds head start each win in the final game, the winner of the round would automatically get the first chance at the next round and vice versa, now these rounds were gripping, I actually was on the edge of my seat for these rounds,
First John Numbers won a 15 second headstart, but lost on round two to Cosmo who balanced out the score and set the headstart back to 0, then John Numbers won the final round meriting him the 15 second headstart, now this is the problematic part, the final round was extremely anti climactic, primarily because Cosmo was stuck on the very first wall jumps for most of the round therefore we could guess the winner would be John Numbers, now the ending was the best part, Miyamoto came out from backstage and handed Cosmo and John Numbers a signed Nintendo 3DS XL and a trophy to John Numbers, but the very best part was Miyamoto's speech in Japanese, this guy is amazing and one of the announcers translated his speech, overall it was amazing!
Now I didn't watch the Bethesda conference the whole way through because I was tired, I started watching it and they mainly spoke about Doom and Fallout, both of which I've never played, if there was anything about Skyrim it would have been my interest, but there wasn't!
tHE START OF THE SHOW
The Sony conference was boring for me, I absolutely have no interest in Sony since the PS2, the PS2 was the best console, as a child I'd always buy a new one when it broke.
The Last Guardian
The conference started off with a game that involved a flying dog, pretty cool, it is called The Last Guardian and the most annoying part is the calls the player must give to the dog, the most common repeated phrase is "Eli" which is absolutly irritating, if you dislike repetition, you may want to turn the voice volume down in the settings menu.
There was a street fighter pre roll which is where Sony announced that the new Street Fighter will be an exclusive to the Playstation 4 and PC platform, leaving Xbox users behind.
No Man's Sky
Then a silly space game was showcased, the colour for the space game seemed dull and washed away, I think the game was called No Man's Sky, the conference was that messy nobody even said the game name or made the game name clear.
Final Fantasy 7 remake and The World of Final Fantasy
Then they released a trailer for The World Of Final Fantasy, now I like Final Fantasy, but The World Of Final Fantasy is basically Final Fantasy for children, the art style gives off that target audience and followed this trailer was an announcement for a remake for Final Fantasy 7, yay! for remakes, remakes are the best and have never ruined games and by that I am being sarcastic.
Now the ubisoft preshow was annoying, the acting from the announcers was cheasy and unbearable, there was one guy cutting two of them up acting to be on the phone saying he was on the show roof, the reading mean tweets was funny, there was a London guy who was hilarious, one guy started banging on an exit and I hate the hastag #UBIE3 really silly.
The E3 started off with a new South Park game, my favourite game by Ubisoft, I completed The Stick of Truth on 360.
"South park the fractured butt whole" with the quote from cartman "we're not playing games this time mom, this time it's serious" I am so stocked for this, South Park TSOT was great and now they're announcing a new game, this will be amazing, and that was about all that was worth interest in the Ubisoft E3.
Need for Speed and Teasers
Now EA's conference started and literally nothing of interest was announced, they announced a new need for speed where you can't tell weather you're playing a game or actually driving, because they think you can't differentiate between reality and a game, they also teased star wars throughout and even gave a countdown of 50 minutes,
There was a stupid doll made out of string for a game called unravel, and the announcer shared holiday pics, I joke, the pictures had purpose but seemed like holiday snaps, the game looks somewhat interesting and it is definetly a game I would like to try.
Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warefare 2
Then we had a dancing zombie mascot appear and get sent straight backstage as they continued talking about garden warfare 2 from the Xbox conference, which makes the game a ton better, I'm joking of course, the game is going to be ridden with microtransactions and suck.
EA started showcasing another madden game, we all love sports so let's continue releasing madden just like Fifa, the franchise will never die out, they could release the updates as DLC instead of a £60 game, but they don't care, its all about the money, yes they're a business but EA really like to take advantage of heavy use of microtransactions or rinsing franchises dry, I'm still not happy with EA when they took my childhood Facebook game Restaurant City by Playfish, bought it and shut it down for The Sims Social which was a pile of crap, but this isn't then, this is now.
EAwent on to bring on Pelé as a guest for a whole 15 minutes, I don't know who he is, is he a footballer, I think so, just a waste of time, I'm here to watch and hear about games, not listen to a footballer with all due respect and the interview lead to no game announcements or had anything to do with any game, they then shown on screen highlights of all the new features they've added to the new Fifa, brilliant work EA, well done.
EA started talking about a stupid minions game, those stupid creatures are the worst they just make noise, that's it, its not funny and the silly things are overused, moving on.
Mirrors Edge: Catalyst
EA went on to announce Mirrors edge, which looked a mess to me, also I already hate it ever since I heard Anita Sarkeesian had input in the game, not that I dislike her, but that I disagree with most of her views if not all of them, therefore I already have an idea that the game would be that little bit worse, the game will be released 26th of feburary 2016 if that's correct, I may be a day out, I can't recall correctly
The star of the show: Star Wars Battlefront
Then a bunch of star wars concepts were shown, for a very long time with a woman just explaining for what seemed like a year what they did with the props, how they scanned them and put them into the game then finally they shown gameplay, now I must say it looked good, I'm not a star wars fan, I like lord of the rings, but the game looked a little bit like they were using some bits from the Lego games on the floors etc, still looked fun, I prefer the Lego games myself so that's a thing, if I had the choice I'd play the old Lego star wars games on the PS2, but it made me jump when Darth Maul, joking Darth Vader was standing there when the player turned around, and that about sums up the EA conference.
Halo 5 Guardians
Xbox at E3 started off with Bonnie from 343 industries, the guys behind Halo, now they started talking about a new Halo game as expected, Halo 5 Guardians, now I've lost being a fan of Halo since the older ones on 360, I liked Halo 1, Halo 2 and that one where you build bases and have a birds eye view, I think it was called wasrs, but I'm not too sure, since Halo has gone downhill in my opinion, although watching the trailer they are showing, the graphics look amazing, you can see it here, it looks so immersive, there's so much detail in the graphics and the close range first person killing looks brilliant but still not a game i'd play, also because I don't have an Xbox One, I have a PC, why buy a console when I can get a PC.
Now Bonnie went somewhere and this guy came on stage who looked like he didn't actually want to be there, the guy who doesn't want to take part in acting but is made to do it sort of thing.
Finally after all the Halo 5 talk, we get to see Phil Spencer, yes the God of Xbox, and I cheared for this, Phil Spencer is amazing, he announced full backwards compatibility for Xbox One meaning that you can now play (as the months go on) your old Xbox 360 titles, this changes everything and makes me actually want to buy an Xbox One, as mentioned above it seems like they are adding games as time goes on, the process they are doing is making it so you place the disk into the tray and the game will download, they say there will be no additional charges for the games you already owned, this update is out now for preview members and out this holiday for everyone else, the preview shown mass effect three running on Xbox One, but I've never played it.
The Elite Controller
Phil Spencer then acknowledged PC gamers (and seemed to throughout the whole conference) when he announced the Xbox Elite controller that features button remapping, full customisation and swappable components, it truly makes you an elite, the controller will also obviously have a 3.5mm headphone jack as we found out prior to E3.
Now there was a brief segment for Bethesda, who shown gameplay from Fallout 4, but the main announcement was that mods created on the PC will be allowed to be played on the Xbox One for free, usually Xbox games have a no modding policy, but I guess Bethesda are the start of the change, let's hope this changes the game completely because mods do extend the game and make the game even more fun than before, unless you're playing with other players and you are using a mod to gain advantage then that's uncool.
Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warefare 2
In the EA conference for Xbox there wasn't really much, the only worthy mention was the plants vs zombies garden warfare launch for next year spring, everything else was ads for EA Access which I've never used and probably never will.
Forza Motorsport 6
Then there was an announcement for Forza Motorsport 6, as usual you can't have Xbox at E3 without a Forza aannouncement, They teamed up with Ford to being the Ford GT into the game, yes Forza is fun but the physics are terrible in the handling of the car, so I hope that they've fixed that in these newer Motorsport games.
ID@Xbox and Early Access
The there was lots of ID@Xbox rubbish, loads of games that look boring but one game that looked cool was Beyond Eyes for Windows 10 and Xbox, its a game where you lead a blind girl around and as you lead her around, the world unveils.
Also the annoying thing is they are bringing early access to Xbox One, the ID@Xbox man announced this and how annoying he did, I hate early access games on PC, I'm paying you for me to beta test your game, the most pointless thing ever, I hate early access, its the worst, you Pay for an unfinished and potentially broken game but I'm going to stop there before I rant on, because I can tangent.
Fable Legends (The Franchise has died)
Then we see Fable legends. We see Fable legends, for God sake, please Lionhead, port Fable 2 to PC and add Fable 3 to Steam, take my money I want to play the good well Fable 3, I want to play the good Fable games and maybe Fable 3 can be included, Fable legends I like that it is free, but Lionhead, you've ruined the game, it looks too graphically intense, it looks like it no longer follows the one protagonist, but four people which is too many for fable, beloved Fable only works as a story driven RPG, not as an open world multiplayer, very annoying, and I'll give it a try but if it's bad, then that's it, maybe the end of my love for the franchise.
Then moving on, the hololens was shown, basically when your wearing the device, as we knew the world of the game would generate on the surface of your voice, they used Minecraft in the demo and put a hololens in front of the camera to actually show the audience what the player was seeing, this is amazing and the hololens looks cool, but we would have difficulty recording let's plays, and that about sums up the Xbox conference.
